Wasted Honor -

Carl R. ToersBijns is the author of the Wasted Honor Trilogy [Wasted Honor I,II and Gorilla Justice] and his newest book From the Womb to the Tomb, the Tony Lester Story, which is a reflection of his life and his experiences as a correctional officer and a correctional administrator retiring with the rank of deputy warden in the New Mexico and Arizona correctional systems.

Carl also wrote a book on his combat experience in the Kindle book titled - Combat Medic - Men with destiny - A red cross of Valor -

Carl is considered by many a rogue expert in the field of prison security systems since leaving the profession. Carl has been involved in the design of many pilot programs related to mental health treatment, security threat groups, suicide prevention, and maximum custody operational plans including double bunking max inmates and enhancing security for staff. He invites you to read his books so you can understand and grasp the cultural and political implications and influences of these prisons. He deals with the emotions, the stress and anxiety as well as the realities faced working inside a prison. He deals with the occupational risks while elaborating on the psychological impact of both prison worker and prisoner.

His most recent book, Gorilla Justice, is an un-edited raw fictional version of realistic prison experiences and events through the eyes of an anecdotal translation of the inmate’s plight and suffering while enduring the harsh and toxic prison environment including solitary confinement.

Carl has been interviewed by numerous news stations and newspapers in Phoenix regarding the escape from the Kingman prison and other high profile media cases related to wrongful deaths and suicides inside prisons. His insights have been solicited by the ACLU, Amnesty International, and various other legal firms representing solitary confinement cases in California and Arizona. He is currently working on the STG Step Down program at Pelican Bay and has offered his own experience insights with the Center of Constitutional Rights lawyers and interns to establish a core program at the SHU units. He has personally corresponded and written with SHU prisoners to assess the living conditions and how it impacts their long term placement inside these type of units that are similar to those in Arizona Florence Eyman special management unit where Carl was a unit deputy warden for almost two years before his promotion to Deputy Warden of Operations in Safford and Eyman.

He is a strong advocate for the mentally ill and is a board member of David's Hope Inc. a non-profit advocacy group in Phoenix and also serves as a senior advisor for Law Enforcement Officers Advocates Council in Chino, California As a subject matter expert and corrections consultant, Carl has provided interviews and spoken on national and international radio talk shows e.g. BBC CBC Lou Show & TV shows as well as the Associated Press.

I use sarcasm, satire, parodies and other means to make you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lurking Dangers

Lurking Dangers

There is a lone wolf roaming around the darkened shadows and dangers are clear

The streets are now battlefields and death has visited us so near

They are pretending to be a facsimile of you and draw you into their schemes

They shaved their beards, they shun the cloth and the wear the cross with blasphemy

When they choose to take a life, and kill whoever they see

They came from the East and traveled to the West, with a book carried inside their palm

They have read the rules and practiced it well so a complete story it will tell

Many have learned to travel in packs but alone they do just as much harm

They will cut your throat, beat or kick your children and women and smile at you with their charm

There is no end to the savagery they possess as darkness falls and the street is bare

What’s important to remember is the fact you must never forget they are the enemy

and ignoring them will often result in you or someone dear be targeted for harm

isolated and around them, can cause you to lose your live

as they deliberately prey on those they know will pay off on their bet

as they cut and kick and shoot to kill on whoever they have met

These men in cloth will mislead you well, while an opportunity given will send you straight to hell

As they believe you are the infidel and what they do will keep they out of hell so they tell

Some will practice their faith in secret while others gather inside the mosques

To kneel before their only god, to pray for blessings of their monstrous acts

Something that is written inside that little black book, something you should never forget

Their savagely brutal deeds and as the media crows in their defense

The more the machete sharpens, the more blood is spilled and the more they hide behind the fence

This fence is an invisible belief for what they do is told to be the righteous means to live

These men or cowards have been taught to hate and plunder and know no mercy to give

A heart of stone, a mindless head and ideologies that makes them do these hideous deeds

Unless the rest of us, they differ in religion, customs and practices and creeds.

So remember this book they carry inside their palm, its tells them to be just like us

Before they strike with unusual carnage, as blood gushes from the body when they blow their cover

To take the time to seek our weaknesses, our vulnerabilities and then strike with terror

Ignorance is Bliss - it gives you less to worry about

Ignorance is Bliss

Most of us can say with some level of honesty that ignorance is “foolish and presumptuous” when there are so many sources out there to seek the truth. The reason I say ignorance is bliss can be based on the fact the (s)he who thinks (s)he is wise thinks s(he) knows it all when in fact, (s)he doesn’t know it at all.

Therefore, those who choose to live in ignorance may be living a contradiction as they claim to know something but failed the test to make it meet the truth or facts Hence, failing to try to meet the test to find the truth is their justification for being ignorant rather than saying, “I don’t know.”

In order to avoid a level of ignorance, one must make an effort to inquire so to find the answer or perhaps question or cross examine the statement. One cannot answer or refute the response if a proper inquiry is not made to justify the answer, hence it is a failure on oneself part to do so.

Although this sounds petty, it has large consequences on one’s own integrity to know the facts or tell the truth. Sometimes, it’s best to say that “I know that I do not know” as that may in fact be the truth rather than make up an untruthful answer.

“Know thy self” begins with being truthful with thy self and one’s own mind. One could also say that choosing not to know the truth is one way not to worry about it.

Sanctify Human Love with Divinen Love

The Redeeming Effect of Human Love

Martin Luther King Day, 2016

Human Love is not apart from love that is Sacred and Divine

It is not possible to have human love without the love of God

There are no limitations on our relationships with admirations of God

Even when stressed, tested or pulled apart from the insanities of life

We all seek a union that is blessed and covered by faith, vision and hope

Finding a deepening romance that blossoms around giving and receiving

Creating a redeeming way to bring this love together for an ultimate union

Knowing that love is the answer when combined with words of God

So open up your eyes, heart and mind, by partaking and believing in oneself

These things are all made possible by faith and vision to share your life with others

With those who share a divine relationship with humanity and celestial mediation

Together or as many, seek the yearning to satisfy self-fulfillment and blessings

A perfect union between self, God and others is experienced with passions of love

This way, there is no self-centered way, no self-idolatry; just visions of reality

For God is the source of inner sanctum and spirited passion which surrounds us

As His presence brings deliverance, union and sanctification of human love

Rebel inside of me

Restless Heart – Calming Seas

I lived my life in the fast lane more than once

The reasons for such wildness was never a question of sanity or anger

But rather it was a moment of calmness that the rough seas brought to my heart

Because when nothing goes right, a restless heart seeks to find a calming sea

I had been told by many that it would be the cause for my demise

Living like a masochist, they said it would eventually take my life

Why couldn’t I be like the rest of men, who walked the calming seas

Instead of finding a way to ride the highest waves brought on by these dreams

A rebel heart inside me took me to the highest summits of my life

It gave me visions of hope, desire and passion that I wanted to be a part of me

I belonged to the wildness in this world, I passed on the calming seas

It seemed that walking on the wild side of life was the life that satisfied me

Living with this kind of acceptancy, it took me on the rebel side of me

It made me feel that it was part of my destiny, leaving me never satisfied

I took the high road more often than the dark road but it barely kept me alive

You might say that making bad choices is what kept me the will to survive

The depth of my heart, the strength of my soul was what kept me going strong

Even though at times, my heart knew what I was doing was wrong

As I aged I shed my skin and outgrew that part of me that caused me pain

So every now and then, I take an opportunity to shed a tear by walking in the rain
